We are seeking study participants who are at least 18 years old and drink alcohol on a regular basis.

Purpose
We are testing an experimental drug named semaglutide to see if it is safe in people with alcohol problems. We also want to find out if the study drug reduces drinking, and how well people respond to the study drug.
Length of Study
20 weekly outpatient visits and 2 follow up visits approximately 3 and 7 weeks after the last study drug dose
Study Activities
Taking semaglutide (Ozempic® or Wegovy®) and/or placebo shots once a week, behavioral therapy modules, questionnaires, medical history evaluation, diagnostic specimen collection (blood, urine, and saliva), brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans, electrocardiograms (ECG), and participating in a bar-like laboratory and buffet-like virtual reality tasks.
Compensation
Up to $4,400.
